Giles is Chairman of Hargreave Hale Limited. After leaving Cambridge in 1969, Giles began his career as a trainee analyst with James Capel before moving to Management Agency and Music PLC as a private fund manager in 1974. In 1986 he founded Hargreave Investment Management, which he then merged with Hargreave Hale & Co in 1988. In 1998, Giles took over as the investment adviser to the Marlborough Special Situation Funds. He is also co-adviser to the Marlborough UK Micro Cap Growth Fund and Hargreave Hale's two AIM VCT's. Giles heads up Hargreave Hale's investment committee and chairs the weekly meetings in which the team review existing and potential investments.
Oliver graduated from Durham University in 1995 with a degree in Chemistry. He served in the British Army for 9 years before joining Hargreave Hale in 2004. Oliver co-manages the VCT's investment portfolios with Giles and supports the other unit trusts through the investment committee. He also runs a Model Portfolio Service for private clients.
Siddarth Chand Lall graduated from Edinburgh University with a masters in economics in 2002. Sid manages the Marlborough Multi Cap Income Fund and also supports the other funds, using his background in Pan European (including UK) small and mid-cap equities. Formerly of DSP, Sid joined Hargreave Hale in 2007.
George has been involved in institutional research and fund management since graduating from Oxford University in 1970. He joined Hargreave Hale in 1988 following positions at both Kemp Gee and GT Management. George, who specialises in "Old Economy" and resource companies, enjoys a particularly broad mandate that allows him to unearth thematic plays and under-researched companies, often with an international dimension.
Guy, a graduate of Oxford University, has extensive city experience in both fund management and broking. Previously at BZW, UBS and Teather & Greenwood. Guy joined the team as a research advisor in 2003 and has a particular focus on the tech sector and other "New Economy" and growth companies. Guy is co-adviser to the Marlborough UK Micro Cap Growth Fund.
Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Ernst & Young in 1994 and subsequently joined Singer & Friedlander in 1995 as a small companies fund manager. He moved to Hargreave Hale in 2005 and is now investment adviser to the Marlborough UK Leading Companies Fund. Richard also manages Hargreave Hale's IHT portfolio service as well as overseeing a substantial investement mandate for private clients.
David joined Hargreave Hale as a fund manager in 2013. He has over 15 years of experience managing European funds since his initial role at M&G. David joins from Nettle Capital Management, a boutique asset manager he jointly founded in 2011 launching one of the first UCITS IV funds. Prior to this he was the lead manager for the Baille Gifford European Smaller Companies Fund, and was also responsible for institutional European small cap portfolios.
Jean joined Hargreave Hale as a fund manager in 2013. A financial matthematics graduate of Dublin City University, Jean has over 10 years' industry experience and has been a CFA Charterholder since 2003. Prior to joining Hargreave Hale, Jean worked as a senior equity analyst at Panmure Gordon, having previously held various research and analyst positions with Arbuthnot Securities, Morgan Stanley and HM Treasury.
Will joined Hargreave Hale in September 2010 as a junior analyst. Prior to joining Hargreave Hale, Will studied Accounting & Finance at Southampton University. Will holds both the Investment Management Certificate and the Investment Advice Diploma.
Nigel joined Hargreave Hale 1997, a graduate in Economis in 1982 and previously working as an investment analyst then moving into pension fund management at a Canadian Insurance Company. He then joined North Wales, Nelson Money managers, managing income investments for clients in 1991.
Nigel became Branch Manager of Hargreave Hale's Bangor office in 1997. In 2009 took over as fund manager of Marlborough Extra Income Fund. In 2012 Nigel stepped down as Branch Manager to concentrate on offering a personal service to existing clients.
Matthew joined the Bangor team in 2008 and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Matthew previously worked for one of the UK's largest Investment Management firms in Manchester. Initially working on the dealing desk he was responsible for trading equities, fixed interest and collective investments before moving into a team managing pension funds, charitable funds and private client portfolios. Matthew continues to manage bespoke portfolios for a range of clients.
In 2012 Matthew was appointed as Branch Manager.
